Shelby and Bobby’s Detroit Date Day Engagement Photos

date day engagement photo sessions are my favorite, because you are relaxed in the familiar, and I get to check out all of your special spots too! we started Shelby and bobby’s engagement photos downtown Detroit at the David Whitney hotel, where they will be getting ready the morning of their wedding. then we went to their home in Huntington woods to hang out with their dog, Braxton. Lastly, we visited their go-to local dive bar down the street from their house, and rounded out the afternoon with a drink and some great conversation!

the David whitney hotel is a stunningly designed hotel in the heart of downtown Detroit. the luxury white marble and dark libraries gave their photos here a moody vibe, with the direct flash photos offering a punch of color and brightness. they both wore neutral, comfy outfits that they felt confident and cute in. we ran around the lobby of the hotel, and the anxiety butterflies of having their photos taken quickly fluttered away while I reassured them with many “obssesseddds” the entire time. we laughed, I made them kiss a bunch, and it felt like we had been friends for years!

from the Whitney we drive to Huntington woods to Shelby and Bobby’s charming bungalow house, made even more adorable by their fluffy golden retriever, Braxton. in home engagement sessions are a favorite stop of mine, as nothing screams “you guys” more than the space you come home to each other every day! Shelby and bobby did an outfit change into something a little more casual, and I snapped some photos of them snuggling up on the couch and giving Braxton lots of love!

after hanging out with Braxton for a bit, we made our way down the street to shelby and Bobby’s favorite dive bar. It is here they’ve come to celebrate many exciting things, like closing on their house, and checking things off their wedding planning to-do list. shelby threw on the cutest leather jacket and some sunglasses for a sort of third outfit change, and they looked so cute and cool playing pool at the local watering hole!
