when can i expect my photos back?

you can expect hour long shoots back in 4 - 6 weeks. weddings & events can expect 8-12 weeks.

are you an inclusive vendor?

absolutely 100%. kate english photography welcomes all humans of all sexual ORIENTATIONS, religious, genders, ethnicities, etc. and has a zero tolerance policy for hate and DISCRIMINATION.

WHAT should i WEAR?

IT’S EASY TO OVERTHINK THIS PART, but DON’T! try to stay away from super CRAZY PATTERS and neon colors, and prioritize clothing items YOU CAN MOVE AROUND IN and feel confident in. wear WHATEVER MAKES YOU FEEL YOUR ABSOLUTE BEST, and feel free to bring options!

can you help us with a wedding timeline?

of course! when you book me to capture your wedding, we will have a touch base call or meeting a month out from your wedding date. during this time we will work together to create a photo timeline, family photo shot list, and talk about which locations you want to prioritize on your day. check out my wedding client guide for mor information here!

How far in advance should I book?

for hour long sessions, about two months in advance is typically enough time to secure your ideal date & time, however feel free to inquire and book whenever!

For weddings and elopements, anytime between 6 months to 1 year out is pretty standard. Planning a shotgun wedding? definitely inquire! I typically leave some prime wedding weekends open for this reason, and my “off season is always pretty flexible!

What is your cancellation policy?

for all my packages, including weddings, your 50% deposit is non-refundable upon cancellation. I will always try to work with you to RESCHEDULE, or put your deposit towards a different service I offer, but in the event of full cancellation with no desire to re schedule, your initial deposit will not be refunded.

how do you back up your work?

when shooting, I am always writing each photo to two separate memory cards. your session is then copied on to two different external hard drives, and the memory cards are not cleared until your final edited gallery is delivered to you. once the photos are in your hands, they are stored in the cloud forever, but you should always back them up to at least 2 SEPARATE places, and order physical prints of them through the print shop connected to your gallery. I also always offer albums!

how do you deliver the final photos?

after editing, i will send you a link to a gallery of your final images and a PIN number for security. The photos will be finalized, with no watermarks, ready to download using your PIN. You can also order prints of your photos directly from the print shop included to your gallery. I have it set so all of the colors stay the same, and they ship to you super fast. i highly suggest printing your photos through this print shop. your gallery will remain in the cloud forever, unless otherwise notified, but please always back your photos up for security.

where are you based, and do you travel?

I am based in grand rapids, Michigan - and yes! I have extensive EXPERIENCE TRAVELING all over the state of michigan, as well as a handful of destination weddings under my belt. although i don’t heavily market myself as a destination wedding photographer, i am always down to go where you want me!

do you include a second photographer in your wedding packages?

yes, most of them! my “feature” wedding packages do not include a second photographer in order to allow me to provide less expensive wedding package options, however every other category of wedding packages does include a second photographer. I have a roster of amazing photographers that i trust, have a similar style to me, and use the same gear that i use. i will always choose my own second shooters. I edit all of their photos, so when you get your final gallery back, you won’t be able to tell who took what! If your package does not include a second photographer, or your day may require a third photographer, you can always add one on.

what happens if we need you to stay longer during our wedding or event?

you can always add on more coverage to your package before the contracted day, however, sometimes shit happens! if we find ourselves in a scenario where I need to stay longer than my contracted time to capture necessary parts of your day, or in the moment you want me to stay longer, you will be sent an additional invoice after the wedding or event.

weddings: $700 for every full hour, $400 for every half hour

events: $500 for every full hour, $300 for every half hour

what if we have to change our wedding or event date?

if you find yourself in a situation where you need to switch your wedding or event date after signing my contract and putting your deposit down, rest assured i will work with you. If i have your new date open, your contract and deposit will transfer over. If i am already booked for that day, we can have the discussion of having a trusted associate photographer shoot the wedding or event, but I edit the photos. In the event that moving your date does not work to have me or one of my associates present, your deposit remains non-refundable, and i will provide you with a list of other amazing photographers to contact.

do you offer prints or albums?

yes, and i always highly recommend printing your photos to get the full EXPERIENCE. every single gallery includes a print shop where you can easily order prints of any size to be delivered to your door, fast! do you give us the raw files?

Typically, no. when you book with me you are trusting my artistic style and approach, and are purchasing the download and print rights to the edited photos of my choosing. However, there are always special circumstances. please reach out to me directly to discuss further if this applies to you.

someone reached out to me to use my photos, can i share them?

when you book a session of any kind with me, you are purchasing the time during shoot itself, as well as the download and print rights to your photos. this means that you can download them and print them out for your personal use, but you do not own the rights to the photos, meaning you absolutely can not sell your photos to any one under any circumstances. if you find yourself in a situation where a vendor, social media account, magazine or catalog, website, etc, reaches out to you wanting you to share your gallery of photos with them to use for their social media accounts, websites, publications, etc, please direct them to me.
